This great pair would be hard to tame
There’s no such thing as a perfect sex partner. Everyone I’ve ever slept with has their own preferences, which is really just a hurdle to jump. Preferences will lead to what they like, which leads to what they’ll do, which leads to how they do it. Really, it’s important for me to be a selfish fuck, because after I’ve taught them how to get me off, I can relax and let them teach me-someday.
One of the most irritating and dangerous habits that I’ve encountered comes into play during oral. To be blunt (and I wish they were), a surprising number of girls use their teeth. Why? Can’t they see that it’s soft tissue? …I guess not.
It’s really sad when a great thing like oral is spoiled by misuse or not understanding how everything relates best. The best parallel in hold’em is playing a low pocket pair, which can be rewarding when it’s played right but dangerous when it isn’t treated with respect.
Where’s the line?
I understand. It’s enchanting to know that when you’re dealt a pair, you are actually ahead of most other people at the table. This is the sort of misunderstanding of the big picture that gets people in trouble with them, definition of “small pair” being another. Let’s look at some choice strategies for ring-game play.
Early/Mid
Building a small pot from early and mid positions can be beneficial so that you’re not too invested in case a monster wakes up behind you. About the minimum raise is just fine, so you can call a raise if it’s not too many chips.
Late
Raising from late position is a good opportunity to steal the blinds. If you get multiple opponents, you should be willing to check through until/unless you make your set. The positional advantage is also a factor, so you can call a preflop raise from the early position opponents to try to make a set, as long as the bet is relatively low.
Medium-Large Pairs
The mid-range pairs, 10-10, 9-9, and 8-8 are bittersweet because they look big but act small; it’s like having second button in your hand already. What do you do with that?! Try making a small bet or taking a flop cheaply. You can make much more money by flopping a set than you could if everyone folded their marginal holdings.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
My personal preference is for a big pair (I don’t have to say ‘of boobies,’ do I?), but with a cautious approach and a firm grip (as on the hair), you can guide the action to your satisfaction.
