Picking up chicks is - in big, general strokes -a two part process. After you introduce yourself and make a big first impression, you must decide what kind of approach is best for your situation; to get a number, a kiss, or intimacy.

The smug man's guide to picking up women
Such is the case with short-handed no limit hold’em. In a game where the significance and margin of value skyrockets because of an absence of competition, there are a lot more factors that come into play.
The Flop And Beyond
In the previous article, we talked about loosening your hand requirements and which hands are (in some cases, surprisingly) stronger than others. So now that you’re raised with your pocket deuces or 5-4s, you can utilize a variety of strategies after the flop to create an advantage.
Positional Advantage
If your pre-flop raise was called by someone who is out of position, you must take full advantage of your later action. Aggressive action is preferable, keeping in mind that your opponent will often miss making a hand (for example, unpaired hole cards only develop into a pair on one-third of all flops).
Complete Misses
If you miss completely and are stuck with something like an 8 high, take a stab at the pot. If you’re called, you can just check it down.
Marginal
On the other hand, if you have an ace with a decent kicker and miss the flop, you can check. Ace high is strong enough to win in short handed, but difficult to read for value. An extra card will give you another chance to hit the board and your opponent may give over some key information that will tell you whether that ace-high is good enough.
Draws
all draws are worth a bet because if you don’t take the pot down right there, you’re building the pot in case you make the draw later and can maybe take your opponent’s stack.
Environmental Concerns
You should always keep in mind the environment. In pick up, you must remember how loud the music is, what type of conversation is acceptable, and whether or not you’re expected to buy drinks (you never are). In short-handed games, the environment will be frantically energetic, forcing you to make rapid-fire decisions of varying difficulty in a short time. Both are gruling. But at least you’ll have money in your pocket at the end of a poker session.
Good luck at the tables… and with the ladies!
